Food Storage - Sept. 28th-Oct. 4th

I have added October's list to the side bar. I'll take September down next Sunday. Since there are essentially 4 1/2 weeks in October, this first week is a catch up week. Take this time to inventory your food supply. Did you miss a week in September? Are you running low on something else? This week is the week to remedy that!

Dead!

After our little spider incident the other day, Chase has been asking me if things are "dead". Of course, the only thing he says is "dead". In the garden on Friday, I was showing him a worm. Subsequently, he asked, "Dead?" I told him that no, he was alive. He then poked it for a little while until the poor worm got up enough energy to crawl back in the dirt.

Today, however, we were sitting in Sacrament Meeting. Chase was showing me what spiders do by wiggling his fingers as if he's ready to tickle someone. He repeats "dead" a couple of times. I reply, "Yes, the spider is dead." So he continues..."Daddy, dead? Ya ya, dead? Eeee, dead? Me, dead?" (Ya ya is his word for Rion, and Eeee is Hailey) Eric and I start laughing. We tell him no and then hand him a book to keep him quiet. Poor little guy! I don't think he truly understands what "dead" means, and I hope he won't have to for quite some time!

Eek!

Have you ever seen a spider like this? I was mowing the lawn yesterday when I noticed this guy hanging half way between the hot tub and the fence. Wow! I at first thought he was a pile of crumpled up dead leaves until he stretched his legs and started scurrying off under the hot tub cover. I couldn't believe how spiny he was! I guess I'd better start spraying the hot tub with Ortho now. I didn't even think about it before. Needless to say, I did not finish mowing the lawn !

Happy first day of Fall!

Catch Up!

I have been terribly busy lately with work, Super Saturday, house work, and Enrichment that I have been terrible at blogging. I have added LOTS to the blog today, all back dated of course. So please, be sure to keep scrolling. I believe the last back dated item was September 5th.

In other news, I believe we now have MORE than enough crafts to make the final decision. Thanks to everyone who passed on ideas! I will post pictures once we decide for sure.

Food Storage - September Week 4

Well, I've found that since I have not been adding my weekly food storage list to the blog, I've completely neglected it! So, even though it is listed in the sidebar, I'm going to get back to announcing the weekly list. Hopefully we'll all continue to add little by little.

Week 4 - September 21st-27th

Iodized salt. It seasons, it preserves. It's a toothpaste and a de-icer. You never have too much and it's cheap.

If anyone truly knows how to use salt as a toothpaste, please let me know! We go through a lot around here and it would be great to have a back up plan!

Tagged!

I now have been tagged by two different people: Trina and Tory. Go figure that they they both begin with 'T' and they aren't even the same tag! Hmmm. And, I might add, since these are about me, these can work toward my "100 things about me" that I still have finished. This now brings me to 87. hee hee

So, here goes.

This was from Trina a couple of weeks ago. (Sorry it took me so long Trina!) The funny thing is, she tagged "Kimmo". Unless there is someone else out there that she has nicknamed "Kimmo", this HAS to be me. This was my nickname in college. Well, that and "Sister Warren" since I was writing to a certain handsome "Elder Warren" at the time. (wink, wink)

Temple Sealing

We had a wonderful day at the Temple today. Our friend's Josh and Karyn were able to be sealed for Time and All Eternity today. There was a special spirit in that sealing room, and I don't think anyone was able to hold back tears once Josh started crying. Congrats Josh and Karyn!

And then, as we were heading out, the next thunderstorm came rolling through! Regardless, what a beautiful day!

More Thunderstorms!

This morning we were woken up by some very loud thunder just before 7:00. Rion was the first to make his way to our room, followed very closely by Chase. Rion was scared, Chase was just drowsy, just following his older brother. Hailey came in very shortly thereafter with this very cool "I'm not scared" demeanor. They all piled in the middle of the bed, with Eric and me on the outsides, fighting to stay on the bed. When I told Rion what time it was, he said, "Oh, I thought it was the middle of the night. It's not that scary then!" Gee wiz! Then go back to your own bed! LOL

Rainy Night

The rain has started! Summer must be just about over. We had a small rain shower this evening, in which I found Hailey outside by herself, drawing. She wanted to enjoy the rain. So cute!

Football!

This is just one of many nights of football gatherings. We have started a ritual amongst our friends of Monday Night Football at our house on the projector, and BSU Football at the Christopherson's on their big flatscreen. Whew! That's a lot of football! And of course, poor Eric, on this particular night when we had a good crowd, he happened to be sick! Go figure!

The "Gone" Tooth

Hailey lost her first tooth two days ago! It had gotten really loose at school, but she didnt' want me to pull it out. She wanted her Daddy to do it. However, while waiting for Eric to come home, she was eating a cookie to pasify her hunger, and a little piece got stuck under the tooth. I was looking at the awkward angle it was at, reach in, and pulled the tooth out with no problem! She got this "oh!" look on her face, and then a really big grin!

The funny part is, the tooth fairy didn't come that night because the tooth fairy doesn't come to our house when chores aren't done, and Hailey didn't want to clean her room. Yesterday morning, once she truly understood this concept, she vowed to clean her room after school. She was excited to fina a nice crisp dollar bill under her pillow this morning. She now tells people that she has a "gone" tooth.

Golf, Anyone?

It's true. All three of my boys LOVE golf. Chase has made it a habit to grab anything with a handle and use it as a club. Everything. And his favorite phrase while striking whatever is in his path is, "Hi-ya!" or even "H-ya!" when he's being lazy. He even calls the golf club a "H-ya". So Eric decided to have a golf evening in the back yard. Rion got his first set of clubs when he was six, so he's been working on his swing for a few years. Who knows, between Rion and Chase, maybe we'll have a Tiger Woods on our hands!

Peaches

About a week ago I went to the orchard and picked some peaches. 'Some' is an understatement... I picked 10 bushels of peaches, to be distributed through 4 different people. I ended up with about 5 bushels, however. So it has been a busy canning week! Four dozen pints of canned peaches, 6 quarts and 4 pints of peach pie/cobbler filling, several sandwich bags of frozen peaches (individual smoothie sizes), and about 1/2 bushel of peaches I had to throw away (because I left a box of peaches in the garage) later, I still have about 1/2 bushel of peaches that will be made into peach jam. Oh, and not to forget the whole "eating peaches daily" thing so now I'm changing poopie diapers 4 times a day. I think we're about peached out for the year, but I'm so glad we'll get to enjoy these during the winter. Next year...can quarts instead of pints. That's going to be a lot of peaches!

Spilled Milk

Everyone has heard the phrase, "There's no sense crying over spilled milk." Well, if milk didn't cost so much, then I would agree with that statement. But, once I realized WHO spilled the milk (Chase), and that he was just trying to pour himself a glass of milk, and that he actually TRIED to clean it up (hence the bib in the cup and the hot pad), I didn't get mad after all. I just grabbed my camera!

Are You Kidding Me?!!!

Chase had yet another michief moment. I was downstairs working on something and realized that I hadn't seen Chase is a little bit. I sent Hailey upstairs to see what he was doing, and she found him in my bathroom painting his toenails! He did not want to cooperate for the photo, so this is the best I was able to get.

The unfortunate side of it...we have carpet in our bathroom! So the floor has been compromised. Anyone know how to get pink fingernail polish out of beige carpet? I knew we should have gone with a darker carpet!

CA Weekend

Eric and I spent a nice weekend in CA this passed weekend for his sister's wedding. We were able to leave the kids with my sister so we could fly down. We rented a car and stayed with Scott and Amie Saturday night, then headed down to Modesto Sunday for the wedding. We are so grateful for Scott and Amie for letting us bunk with them for a night! We sure do miss them and will take every opportunity we can to get together.

Tamara and Kent's wedding was very colorful. Their colors were brown, lime green and pink. They used these beatiful flowers for Tam's bouquet and for her bride's maids, and they used pear and limes in the decoration throughout. They used the brown accent in the bride's maids dresses and for the ties of the groomsmen, as well as on the cake. Very pretty!

Eric's other sister, Angie, found the perfect dress for her daughter Emma. The colors matched nearly perfectly! What a cutie!

Okay, so now pics of the bride! I know, you were all waiting. Here is a picture of the siblings: Eric, Tamara, and Angie. What a beautiful family!

And now the happy couple! Kent and Tamara were married on Sunday, August 31, 2008. We wish them many happy years ahead of them!

The wedding party
